They make use of 200 rail way stations displaying a poster “Super Heroes”.It has a slogan saying” Try telling him his muscles are his weakness”.I think that this particular slogon is effective enough to create an impact on people who saw the poster.The poster was together display with 2 huge banners facing one of Melbourne’s busiest intersections of Flinders and Swanston Street, eyes were truly focussed on Muscular Dystrophy and the MDA. Hundreds of thousands of people were exposed to the message.
other than poster and banner campaign, the MDA and the National Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre (NMDRC) launched a new TV community service announcement (CSA) promoting research. The message is simple and direct and its aim is to raise awareness for the need for more research into MD. With the support of the national television networks both free to air and pay TV, the NMDRC research message is being broadcast to the widest possible audience..
Although they used traditional method, i think its equally effective as new media.
Launch of MDA Awareness Campaign
It’s called “Let’s FightMD” campaign has set the stage for MDA’s national awareness campaign aimed at print and TV media.The campaign is raising awareness through one of the very famous in Australia Boxing. 4 of Austraila’s top boxer was at the event boxing and also explaining the important of finding a cure of Muscular Dystrophy.This campaign will also appear in magazine, print media and also on tv. They also use new media tools like youtube to advertise on their campaign.
As compared to MDA Singapore, i think that campaigns is MDA Australia is more effective. MDA Australia make use of traditional media to do advertising.Advertising was sucessful as they make you of location and together we new media tools like youtube.Youtube is a very effective new media tool. Youtube has millions of watchers everyday. Basically when an advertisement video is upload, anyone can watch it, the message or important information can be show to everyone in the world.Videos also can be linked/put into social media network like FaceBook,Twitter and also blogs. Thus creating more public awareness in the community itself.
Muscular Dystrophy Canada
They have a different approach.They uses social media like Facebook.They uses Facebook for campaign like raising Fund every year. But not only so the account also allows other users to share about the events in different parts of canada…People with family members who suffer from Md also can get the lastest information or technology that can help them in their lifes… It also provides MD patients about information and inspirational books…Youtube videos are also feature online to educate the public on the seriousness of MD. Flickr is also used to show what the organisation does and also their campaigns..Twitter is also used to advertise on the campaigns that is done by MDC.
MDA in singapore does not have any new media tools to further advertise on their campaign they only have M-power newsletter. M-power newletter is not as effective as posting on new media tools, because you must locate the M-power newsletter by yourself whereas for new media tool we can just see it on the page online.I think it is my convenient and better.
Based on this research findings it tells me that MDAS is lacking in publicity using new media tools like Facebook. The website itself have a lot of information about MD and what MDAS does. But people doesn’t know all that is because they don’t do advertisement on their organisation itself. In order to attain more visitors to the website in a short time, we propose to use Facebook as our new media tool to advertise about their website and MDAS itself.So,we chose facebook as our new media tools as now it is popular among people.Facebook also has a user friendly interface,we can easily upload promotional pictures and videos .M-power newsletter should be post on facebook monthly to keep fans updated. We also thought of using facebook to create promotional quizzes with attractive prizes to attract people to participate in online events.
